Julie posts what hopefully is the last rebuttal of this mess at her journal.

Friday, January 10, 2003

Here's YOUR responses about the Melissa/Julie confronation. Unless any other new news has been posted by cast members (Lori added a small something on her website 1/9/2003), let us never, ever speak of this horrible incident again. (And please don't send us hate mail if we do... It's almost 100% likely that there will be follow up to this. :))

"My take on Julie, she seems so nice and i'm convinced she probably is, but to me when her and Melissa were arguing the look on her face looked as though Melissa was right, Julie looked flat out scuuured " Did I do anything to offend you yet..." " Are you finished? 'cause i was going to go down to the pool with Dan..." she was SCUUURED. And when Julie was talking about how she only has 3 days to prove to everyone that she isn't who they think they are...why is she so worried about that, if she had nothing to hide, why prove anything you know? She is a backstabber, didn't she learn anything in the Great Book Of Mormon? I dunno, but to me, i think the majority of these people who are chosen for the shows take their opportunity they've been given for granted, they bitch and moan, and cry when they don't get their way, geez man just be happy you got picked for the show, i liked it when Amaya said on BOTS " We are blessed that we've all been given this opportunity to win some money" and she is right, they have been blessed, so don't take it for granted. And Colin's ONLY famous words " As far as i'm concerned, we are the most luckiest 7 people on this planet right now, we have been given the gretest opportunity" RW HAWAII ok anyway, i hope we all get to see what will prevail with this whole Julie Melissa thing, and hope they get to be freinds again."

"Granted, Julie probably shouldn't have said anything if she wasn't for certain, but how can we take what any of these Real Worlders are saying about Julie as the truth. In Lori's commentary on the situation she blatantly says she's not 100% clear on the facts, but yet she talks about what occurred between Julie and Coral and other cast members. She even admits that she doesn't know Julie, and doesn't want to get to know her, because of Coral's and Melissa's dealings with her. So to say that Julie is disliked by Real Worlders is over blown, because they are basically going on information that happened between the two drama queens, and not even taking the time to listen to Julie's side. Which is totally understandable, because if Coral and Julie are your friends, you want to believe and support them. But if Julie did not do anything to you personally, I would not write or talk about a situation that I was not a part of. It just seems to me that this fight between Melissa and Julie is about money. Melissa and Coral felt they were robbed of money, and they told their friends about the situation in a dramatic fashion, because from watching their shows you know it only takes a little to get them to blow up. It's a fight that probably happens everyday with people in or out of the business, but this one was just played out on national TV."

"When I first saw the 1st epidode of the Battle of the Sexes, I hadn't heard anything about what had happened to Julie and Melissa after the show or anything, so I was pretty much under the impression that they were still good friends. When I saw their fight, I was really shocked to hear about what had happened between them, and I was sad too, cause they were such good friends on the show. When Julie was kick out the 1st episode, I was kinda shocked, cause I thought Melissa would look past her anger, and vote out someone at the bottom. When Melissa called her a B****, I really was like "What the heck happened after the show between them?" Then I read on this website something that Danny from New Orleans said about the situation, and based on what he said, I really don't know what to think. I was always in support of Julie, but after reading about how she supposedly wrote letters to colleges that dissed other Real World cast members, I can more understand what Melissa must have been feeling, and why she did what she did. If I were in Melissa's position, and what Julie did was true, I would be pissed off too, and I would try and get rid of her as soon as I could. At this moment, I think I am in support of Melissa, cause If more than one person is speaking about this, than there has to be some kind of truth to it.
I still kinda like Julie, just because she's one of my favorie cast members of all time on Real World, and it's hard to just stop liking her because I don't know the entire story, and also because I really just can't put myself in Melissa's shoes."

"Personally, I think Melissa had every right to want Julie gone, personal or not personal. Not only has Julie belittled Melissa in the past, but she acted innocent and blatantly lied to Melissa on the challenge. She practically spit in Melissa's face by claiming she didn't know what Melissa was talking about. I think Julie is personally a manipulator! I totally agree with you, no one from the Real World said 'Oh I don't think what Melissa did was right' it was Ellen and Christina mainly who had the problem. Personally, I find Julie to be very deceitful as well!!! She lies, along with contradicting herself constantly. And then she made it like she did the best in the challenge, when she didn't do that well. She wouldn't have been have been an asset to the team, because no one trusted her, and half the female didn't like her. If that's an asset then may lightning strike me now!"

"I personally have no reason to doubt Julie's integrity, and I believe her over Melissa. Julie had tons of college lectures, at one time her tour list was basically every day of every month for about 6 months straight. There's bound to be jealousy there. I personally know that Julie used to have a different booking agent - she worked with World Wide Talent Group BEFORE she had her mom do it (I know this because I won an item off her website, and in the phone call she gave me, I asked how I would go about getting her to come speak at my school, and she gave me that web address. The date of the call was January 9, 2001, which was also the premiere date of the Extreme Challenge.) Obviously, when she figured out her mom could do it without getting paid as much, it was a smart business move. Cooincidentally, Melissa now works with WWTG. When an agent has handled two cast members, it's very likely that, whether by accident or on purpose, the agent probably said something like "Melissa wants more then you can spend, but I know of someone else who can do it." Just because Julie was no longer working with them doesn't mean that her old agent wasn't still her friend. It all boils down to satisfying the client. If they want someone who signs autographs, and they want to spend less money, the agent is gonna try to fill their needs with the right cast member. Now, it's a proven fact that Julie was involved with the thing between Kelley and Melissa, and that was wrong of Julie, and it may have just caught up with her. I think that Melissa probably heard that Julie had called, when in reality it was one of the agents, and that Melissa jumped to conclusions and began rallying people against Julie. All of the cast members which have come forward are personal friends of either Melissa, or friends of Melissa's friends. Coral and Lori are both friends of Melissa, Mike is a friend of Coral and Lori. Colin says "allegedly" which shows that he doesn't know for himself. Danny probably said something as a result of the Kelley deal. That "person" that you know that knows the cast members is Danny's friend who runs his website (Editors Note: This is not true... JHune says that he takes the quote of my website. The author of this message also did retract the statement.). My quesiton is: if there IS hardcore proof against Julie, where is it? Why doesn't someone just publish the shit and get it over with? Melissa is known to get jealous, and even if she felt genuinely wronged, she looks like an asshole. That whole comment that Julie made in her rebuttal about "Sweetie, I already knew" makes perfect sense. It's obvious that they'd had words before this, and even Melissa's comment about "Julie missed her flight, and I would've told her beforehand" is stupid. Melissa didn't need to say anything, period, even though it did make for informing the public. I just think it's stupid. I posted on one of the message boards how even if people hated Julie before this challenge, they must admit that it is really sad to see a friendship get destroyed over money, and countless people replied agreeing, saying they thought Julie was annoying but they understood. In answering your question regarding the Playboy deal, if Julie did in fact "set Melissa up" it was probably out of anger. Now I know they both have anger, but I mean like anger "in the moment". And Julie posted in her journal because she didn't know she was gonna get to post at MTV.com . She wanted her two cents in, and if someone attacked my character I would reply too. Bottom line - I think that this is really the saddest, most stupid thing I've ever heard of coming between friends. Money is not that important - and they both make plenty by doing the things that they do. They both have TV shows, they both have websites, they both get college lectures. Melissa deliberately tried to start a fight in Jamaica, she even admitted it by saying that Julie said "Hi, Melissa" but that it was "fake" and that "set her off." I think Melissa needs to get over it and move on. I really hope this ends good. I wish they'd make up, but I know that probably won't happen."

Thanks guys for all your responses!
Incredibly amazing stuff. We sit here with jaws wide open when we hear about this stuff. Since the New Orleans show, only Danny and Melissa have come out with what they think of Julie. Add to the list Kelley and possibly Jamie... Kelley writes the following about Julie: (This just leaves out Matt and David)

"And with Melissa, things got so much better, It was really because of last year's book (the BTNY book) that we finally got it out in the open. We realized that there was something big between us: Julie. Melissa called me and read me things we'd said about each other. It was all, "Julie told me this" and "Julie told me that." We got Julie on the phone. She told us that she was just trying to help us get along. What? You tell one person the other person thinks crappy things about her? That's a helpful thing? I didn't believe her. Melissa, Jamie, and I are good friends now, and we could have been then. But there were too many lies flying around."

You can find this on the Danny and Paul website. We are going to post the emails later today.

Im getting some great responses about the Julie/Melissa confrontation. Keep sending them to newrwroad@hotmail.com. Even Danny comments about the Julie situation on his website Danny and Paul. (Scroll down after the long quote taken from our website.) To someone who knew BOTH castmembers before hand, it looks like Julie is still looking bad. I'm getting amazing responses by the way, keep them coming. I'll post them tomorrow and HOPEFULLY this will be the end of this mess.
Here's the first email that we are posting about the Julie/Melissa incident. Send in ur emails to newrwroad@hotmail.com and we'll post Pro-Melissa, Pro-Julie emails from both sides. We'd really like to hear your opinions on this.

"Jeez, what a war it HAS become.

Just wanted to write and say what I think about the whole thing. I am a HUGE RW/RR fan, and I have been following it since the first seasons. Though it is starting get ridiculously dumb, I still follow it, cause it is such a good dose of drama - haha.

This whole Julie and Melissa war is starting to get old, but I do have some opinions on it. I think MTV totally blew the whole thing out of proportion with its editing. I am 110% behind Melissa, because Julie has always seemed shady in my eyes too - through watching her on the RW, and even seeing her on other types of shows (interviews, college circuit stuff, etc…) I think that MTV made Melissa come off as a real asshole, when in reality she was just hurt, and wanted to tell Julie how she felt. She blew up the way she did because Julie came off looking like she had no idea what the hell she was talking about, when two seconds later she was talking about WHY Melissa was flipping out on her. Julie completely contradicts herself throughout EVERY single entire interview she makes.

I don't see how any person could see Julie as the good guy. If you look at Colin's, Lori's, and everyone else's comments about this whole thing, you see that Julie did/still does have ulterior motives, and that is just plain wrong. She hurt Melissa, along with a lot of other cast mates. I see where Melissa is coming from, because she thought Julie was a friend, as you could see from how close they were in NO.

And with the whole thing about Melissa turning everyone against Julie? That's poo. When Melissa confronted Julie, no one was in the room … except maybe Ayanna, and OBVIOUSLY, Ayanna knew the shit was gonna hit the fan, cause she ran like a bat outta hell. Ayanna and Julie were somewhat tight, so obviously, Julie informed Ayanna that people didn't like her, and things were going to be said to her. That is the way I see it - who knows if that is what really happened. Anyway … why would Melissa want to turn the whole damn cast against Julie? That is 3rd grade material. If you go on MTV.com and see the video that shows exclusive footage of the inner circle, you see that it is 2 minutes of them talking about why Julie shouldn't be on. Melissa said nothing. Genesis was the one saying why she should be voted off. Then you see the actual footage of the inner circle on the show, and that is another 2 minutes of deciding. Melissa only said, she personally wanted to see Julie voted off, and that was IT! According to everyone in the inner circle, it only took 5 minutes to decide. If you see the footage, Melissa really only said her piece about Julie in 30 seconds. Amaya, Aneesa, and Genesis made the decision after that. Melissa is too smart to go and pit everyone against Julie. She told Julie her piece and said what she had to say. Melissa can stick up for herself, she doesn't need everyone else support to know she hates Julie.

Anyway … I think I have said enough about this shenanigans. It is getting quite old, and I am sure everyone is sick of it by now, but that is my two cents. Look at the facts, Julie is a shady chick and Melissa just spoke her mind. That's all there is to it."

Julie posts her rebuttal to Melissa at MTV.com. Scary...

Here's some excerpts from the interview we had with Julie:

Q: You seemed like you were so on key during your season of Real World, and it seemed like you got along with everybody (well except David, sometimes), what happened between you and Melissa, you guys seemed like you were going to be friends for life. Is everything alright now between you two?

A: I DON'T TALK TO MANY RW KIDS NOW BECAUSE WE ALL LIVE FAR FROM ONE ANOTHER AND HAVE OUR OWN LIVES. PLUS THE REAL WORLD WAS LONG AGO.

Q: Why did you turn down the Playboy deal?

A: YOU COULDN'T GET ME TO DO PLAYBOY FOR ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD. THE MAGAZINE DOESN'T COINSIDE
WITH MY VALUE SYSTEM AND I THINK IT DEGRADES WOMEN TO JACK-OFF OBJECTS. INCIDENTALLY - THEY OFFERED OVER 50 G'S.

Q: Do you know who accepted it? or who else declined it?

A: I THINK MELISSA GOT OFFERED, SO SHE MIGHT DO IT. I DON'T KNOW ANYONE ELSE.

You make the call. It seems very suspcious with what Julie told us in the interview. Why would she lie about Playboy and deliberately set up Melissa like that? (Keep in mind, this is after Julie was booted from the Battle.) And the whole Real World alumni thing is really true. Lori comments about it on her website. How others (Not Melissa) avoid Julie and whatnot. Not that alumni live far apart. (She lives in Hungington Beach, a suburb of LA, which contains like 40 or 50 RW/RR castmembers)

Plus, read Julie's journal entries. They're kinda weird when she talks about the Battle. She says that she doesn't trash talk Melissa and doesn't care about the money. But at the end of the entry she tries to belittle her and makes comments about how good it was to be kicked off the Battle because she made more money playing with her band.

We want to hear your opinions, thoughts on this matter. This is big. There hasnt been a brew-ha-ha this big since Stephen slapped Irene. Email us at newrwroad@hotmail.com and tell us what you think! We are going to be posting messages! Thanks!

Catch this article by MSN stating that this incident (among others) signifies a renaissance of reality TV.

DRAMA!

So many people have been asking about the Julie/Melissa thing. So many people want to know! Well, read Melissa's commentary over at MTV.com. She even mentions our website. Julie conducted an interview with us a couple of weeks ago and she told us that she was offered to do Playboy. When asked if anyone else is doing it, she commented that Melissa was offered and might do it. Well, we do have an inside source here close to cast members... Here's the brew-ha-ha:

"Here is what happened between Julie and Melissa. Melissa was 100% in the right to confront Julie and tell her off. Julie has been screwing Real World cast members for years now. She has even been caught writing emails degrading other cast members, so she gets the appearances before the others. Some universities have even forwarded emails they received from Julie on why they should book her over Melissa as well as other cast members. She would usually just tell lies to steal the appearances from other cast members. As well, the school they were arguing about in the episode happened like this.

The school called Julie first directly and asked her to speak. Julie wanted a higher fee then what RW cast members usually get. When Julie heard they were also trying to book Melissa and that Melissa charges the accurate fee, Julie started talking shit on her to the school and even put it in writing, saying Melissa was not a good speaker, curses frequently in her appearances and will not sign autographs and is all in all rude. Now this could not be further from the truth. Melissa as well and most cast members do triple the amount of appearances then Julie does, and Julie has such a bad reputation at the colleges that her speaking days are limited. Julie has also been know to charge I believe 10 dollars for an autograph picture of herself and up to $100 dollars for a simple interview with her. And this has been documented!!

The fact that Melissa said something to Julie was just because; Melissa is the only one with a pair of balls to expose Julie. She has screwed so many people at this point, if she stayed on the Challenge others would have come forward to chat with her. Other cast members even decided to not participate in the Challenge because Julie was doing it. It you really watch last nights episode, the only people who really protect Julie are people who don't know her, which were Road Rules cast members. As well, the fact that Julie just sat there with that dumb look on her face is because she knew it was coming and Melissa was just the first to do so. In reality the "Inner Circle" took not even 5 minutes to vote Julie off, but they didn't show that.

Also I'd like to point out that Melissa was working with her booking agent the second she got off the show. While she was minding her own business Julie was immediately off filming The Extreme Challenge, hence not working on the college lecture circuit. This idea that Julie "helped" Melissa out, and that Melissa made thousands of dollars with her help is an outright lie. Melissa did maybe two jobs with Julie, discovered there was something dishonest going on with her money and never worked directly with Julie as her "friend" again. Melissa was one of the first cast members from New Orleans to do the college lecture circuit, and does so with professionalism and integrity. Her anger is a direct response to being lied to, lied about and misrepresented.

Julie's booking agent is her own mother. That explains why she claims her agent "works so hard for her." They make the money together!"

This is what Lori said about the situation on her website:

"All of a sudden, I’m surrounded by faces I’ve only seen on TV in the years of watching the show, and I have to tell you, it was strange and exciting. I gave everyone a hug (like a true fan – feeling like I already know them), and walked around confused and weirded out. I saw Tonya who was so excited to see me because we had talked a bit when we were both in NYC a few weeks before. The TV doesn’t lie, that girl’s body is just ridiculous. Luckily, I knew Melissa already, but people were telling me that I fight between her and Julie had already occurred. “Before we got here??” I asked.

Apparently so. I knew that was going to happen. Melissa and I had already discussed it on the phone. Julie’s fan club didn’t so much exist in Jamaica. It’s the truth. There were very few who liked her, very few who trusted her, and everyone had either had a previous bad experience or had been forewarned about her, and NOT by Melissa. Julie’s sketchiness is well known in the world of BMP types, and this was the first I met her. I’m not good at hating people I don’t know personally. I’m not good at being mean to someone when I haven’t witnessed something fucked up first hand. And if Julie is truly as bad as everyone swears, then the girl is DAMN good at what she does because she comes of really genuine and really sweet to me. Melissa said, “You can’t see through that bullshit?” I reminded her that she didn’t see through it in the year she was friends with her during New Orleans. She agreed. I’ve never known a true liar and manipulator. A good one has you constantly buying their shit (just like the best players seem like the sweetest guys and not creepy at all). Well, I bought her shit, and I know I trust easily and give people the benefit of the doubt – so I just steered clear of her to avoid having to be on one side of the situation or another."
